Promoting history, culture and arts, the bar was raised higher yesterday when Nigeria’s oldest and biggest financial institution First Bank Nigeria agreed to partner with one of the biggest art, culture and creative hub in Nigeria; Freedom Park Lagos.

Discussions on this partnership have been in the pipeline for a while now, but yesterday, history was made and a once faint dream came to life. The birth of this dream will be a change that will revolutionize the artistic creative industry in Nigeria and Africa in general.

Gathered at the Museum of Freedom Park, Lagos were the staff of First Bank Nigeria, Management of Freedom Park, Lagos and members of the press who all came around to witness the historical merger. The noble institution; First Bank, Nigeria was represented by Mrs. Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami, Head of Events and Sponsorship, also representing the head group of the bank. Mrs. Bridget Odumosu gave an insight into the reason for the partnership with Freedom Park, Lagos and in her words she said: “The essence of the partnership is to protect,preserve and expand the frontiers of arts, history, tourism and creativity in Nigeria”.

She also explained that the partnership is a long term project and its just the beginning of big things to come. Speaking on behalf of Freedom Park, Lagos, was Mr. Theo Lawson of Lork Enterprise LLP,Mangers of Freedom Park Lagos,Mr. Lawson thanked the First Bank, Nigeria for the initiative and for seeing the beauty behind the Freedom Park brand. He explained what gave birth to the partnership and he also stated that: “This partnership will change the art industry in Africa and help in further developing the park which will in turn improve lives of people that come through its gates”

The dotted lines have been signed and the following months and years will see an unprecedented growth never seen before. The revolution is about to start. It only took the oldest bank to see the beauty in an old prison. A big congratulations to both First Bank Nigeria and Freedom Park Lagos on this partnership titled “First@Arts” Initiative.
