Join Legacy for an historic walking tour of Lagos Island and learn about the diverse communities who built and lived in the Colony of Lagos while walking through the island’s historic district! Legacy is an historical and environmental interest group of Nigeria and was registered as a charity in 1995. Legacy aims to form a wide membership all over Nigeria to encourage the promotion of historical sites in every part of the country, bring them to the attention of the public.

The Lagos Walkabout II: A Walk Through Nigeria Colonial Times

 

The group will gather at Freedom Park on Lagos Island at 7:45 for a 45 minute introductory talk and then proceed on the walk which will take about 2 hours ending at 10:30. A light breakfast and interactive session will follow lasting until 11:45. The Walkabout will include the following sites: Holy Cross Cathedral, City Hall, Ajele Cemetery, Baptist Church, St. Georges Hall, Old Government Printing Press, the Old Government Secretariat, General Hospital, NET and NCR Buildings, the former USA Embassy, Independence Building, Western House and then back to Freedom Park. The tour will be led by a Legacy guide and a map of the sites will be provided.
