The iRepresent International Documentary Film Forum is an organisation
dedicated to promoting awareness about the power of documentary films to
serve as a means of deepening and sharing social and cultural education as
well as encouraging participatory democracy in our societies. It is
conceived on the frame-work theme " AFRICA IN SELF-CONVERSATION."
iREP has had over 2,000 participants from different parts of the World in
3years. Since the inaugural festival in 2011, iREP has hosted a pool of
renowned filmmakers, scholars, critics, Arts enthusiasts, and students. Our
guests have included Professor Manthia Diawara (Mali/USA), Prof Jean
Colleyn (France), Prof Awam Amkpa (Nigeria/USA) Prof Niyi Coker
(Nigeria/USA), Prof Femi Shaka (Nigeria) and Jihan El-Tahri (Egypt/USA)..

A feature of the Forums is a training programme specifically targeted at
young filmmakers. The training exposes aspiring filmmakers to the basics of
documentary. About 250 students have been part of this training which has
also attracted participation from notable institutions like University of
Lagos, Lagos State Polytechnic, University of Ibadan, PEFTI Film School,
and a lot more.

Our trainings cover courses such Producing for Documentary, Scriptwriting
for Documentary, Producing Radio documentaries, Content Development for
Documentary, Research and Legal Frameworks, Advanced Documentary
Filmmaking, and Master Class in Cinematography. Our classes are taught by
international filmmakers who have a firsthand experience in documentary
filmmaking such as David Brown, Jihan El-Tahri, Oliver Hardt, Tunji
Akinsehinwa, Niyi Coker, Femi Odugbemi, Anouk Bertard, Babel Mauch, and
many more.

iREP trainings are extended beyond the festivals to provide for broader
participation and extensive training in specific areas of filmmaking. iREP
in partnership with Goethe Institute and Freedom Park also holds monthly
documentary film screenings to keep the conversation going through the
course of the year.
