The Vision of the Child (VOTC) has unveiled its theme for 2016. The event was held at last week at the Diamond Bank Headquarters in Lagos , and Prof. Wole Soyinka did the honours by unveiling the theme which is: ‘Sisi eko at 50, aging with grace or na so so pancake’. The theme was chosen to announce the 50th anniversary of Lagos state coming up later in the year.
The deputy governor of Lagos state, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, gave the keynote address. She praised VOTC and Diamond Bank for helping to promote education in the state by encouraging children to develop love for literary arts, critical thinking, and painting. Also, the deputy governor said that this was in line with the state’s “360 degree Education” plan for Public Schools.
Uzoma Dozie, the CEO of Diamond Bank, said the bank is committed to promoting education and to the support of laudable initiatives like VOTC’s.
The project which was championed by Ms Foluke George started in April 2012 with the theme, ‘The Vision of the Child’. In the past 5 years, it has been instrumental in shaping the minds of school kids by imparting them with leadership skills, and teaching them to develop a passion for humanity and excellence.
Dignitaries in attendance include Mama Nike Okudaye Davies of Nike Art Gallery, Consul General, the Federal Republic of Germany- Mr. Ingo Herbert, Tinsel Director – Mr. Victor Olaotan ,Mr Adetola Wewe and Mr Pierre Cherruau of the French Consulate
