Preserving legacy, heritage with fashion art. Nigeria’s foremost fashion outfit known for its mix of contemporary style with a twist of cultural and artistic boost; Ore Apparels is back at it again. Now re-living the memories of Atlanta 96 memories on Adire T-shirts. 20 years after, and another Olympics here,is there any way the Nigeria Team can bring back glory to its Motherland again?
In Celebrating and re- capturing the glorious moments of the Atlanta ’96 football gold Team. Lagos-based fashion house Ore Apparels has launched a new line of shirts to commemorate Nigeria’s gold medal victory at the men’s football event of the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
The Kanu Nwankwo Captained team stunned the world to become the first African side to win gold in the event, and with the nation still celebrating their exploits 20 years after, artist Abolore Sobayo has decided to remember their achievements through the medium of fashion.
The collection includes a range of T-shirt designs from traditional adire to T-shirts with the caricature prints of some great Nigerian footballers who partook in the 1996 Games with the full squad list printed on the back of the shirts. “Art naturally cuts across all walks of life. It is a form of expression, it shows creativity and style. This collection can add to the diverse documentation, and the youth can be inspired by the hard work, team spirit, courage, the desire for gold beyond the field of play and in life as dreams do come true,” Sobayo said in a statement to Goal.
“For the people around during Atlanta ’96, I want the outfits to bring back memories of victory and for those who were not, I want them to have a feel of what it was like to be an Olympic champion. “I also believe in football as a tool for unity in Nigeria and that we must always show support for the Nigerian national teams.”
