The tides of the arts and creative industry in Nigeria witnessed an upsurge last week when two front liners in the sector – Committee for Relevant Arts (CORA) and the Freedom Park, Lagos jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU) with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry,a deal that confirmed the dou’s involvement in facilitating related activities during the Lagos Creative Industry Expo “Eko Akete” a sub part of the 2015 Lagos International Trade Fair slated for November this year.
The Lagos Creative Fair “Eko Akete” is a ten-day cultural manifestation of the essence of the amazing cultural and arts spirit of Lagos. Programs such as- creative and performing arts, book reading and reviews, fashion shows, music and movie will be the highlights of the festival that will take place at Freedom Park, Lagos.
Ms Oluwabumni Aliyu in charge of Marketing and Promotion , Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry while representing the company observed that, “ the collaboration between the trio marks a new beginning in the sector hitherto pushed to the corner in the scheme of things. This laudable step portends great and mighty things ahead since it is expected the two partners would help deliver on the promises of making the sector irresistible to foreign investors”. Representing their organizations also were- Mr. Jahman Anikulapo of CORA, Mr. Toyin Akinosho (CORA), Architect Theo Lawson of the Freedom Park, Lagos and Mr. Ogundele Damola of ASIRI who also doubles as Freedom Park’s PR Officer.
The recent developments proved the sector is a formidable force to reckon with in terms of social and national development of the country.
