The EniObanke Music Festival (EMUfest 2015) will this year have its grand finale at the Lagos Book and Art Festival in Freedom Park on November 14, 2015.
The country’s premier annual celebration of folk and roots music starts off this year with a songwriting and percussion workshop at the EniObanke Grounds in Adekunle Fajuyi Way, GRA Ikeja on November 4, with a Talent Night following up the same evening. The festival then starts its three city tour on Friday November 6 at the Egboro Day in Ijebu-jesa Town Hall, Ijebu-jesa, featuring the legendary Chris Ajilo, Beautiful Nubia and others. The Festival moves to Ibadan the following evening, Saturday November 7, with Beautiful Nubia and others performing at Alliance Francaise, 7th Day Road, by Magistrate Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan
This moving feast returns to Lagos on Sunday November 7, with a Grand Concert at the EniObanke Arts Centre featuring Jimi Solanke, Beautiful Nubia and others). The final party holds at the Lagos Book and Art Festival LABAF, on Saturday November 14. The EmuFest Party is itself the LABAF Festival Party, which celebrates landmark birthdays of distinguished contributors to the Nigerian cultural Life The guests of honour include Fred Agbeyegbe, playwright, theatre patron, Sam Amuka, publisher of Vanguard nespapers, who turend 80 earlier in the year, Frank Aig-Imoukhuede, a distinguished culture bureaucrat and a former Federal Director of Culture, Demas Nwoko, a pioneer in modern art in Nigeria, Muyiwa Oduyoye@80, all of who turned 80 earlier in the year, as well as Kabiyesi Oba Gbenga Sonuga, Culture bureaucrat and the painter and visual art professor Dele Jegede, who have both turned 70.
