Felabration 2015 is gathering momentum and one important and amazing force behind the great man Fela Anikulapo Kuti is in Nigeria
Her name is Sandra Izsadore and no one understand Fela better than Ms Sandra,the two met in Los Angeles at a gig at Ambassador Hotel in 1969 in Los Angeles. Sandra then was a young dancer then and a member of the famous Blank Panther (A Radical Anti-Government Group in LA then).
Sandra introduced Fela to the black power movement and activism. The two lived together for a while in Lagos before Sandra went back to the US. Until Fela’s death in 1997,the two remained closed friends even though they weren’t together again.
Sandra will be at the Annual Felabration 2015 Symposium on Monday at NECA House Alausa Ikeja and will be around for the Festival.
